A daily sales report that is ready before the morning meeting
A daily sales report you never have to build. Every morning Sai opens each place you sell, from your point of sale and online store to your CRM, collects yesterday’s sales, adds them to your Daily Sales sheet and writes a short report comparing the day with the same day last week and with your target. It is waiting for you before the team starts.
The routine
# Routine: Daily sales report
Schedule: Every day at 7:00 AM
Runs on: Mochi's computer
Ask me before acting: no
Stop a run after: 30 minutes
## Each run
1. Open the Daily Sales sheet and its Channels tab (channel, where to read sales, target per day).
2. For each channel, read yesterday's orders, revenue, average order value, refunds and top items from its own report.
3. Add one row per channel for yesterday. Don't edit earlier rows.
4. Compare each channel with the same weekday last week and with its daily target.
5. Write a five-line summary: total sales, the biggest change, top items, refunds, and anything that looks wrong.
## Rules
- Read only. Don't change orders, prices, products or settings anywhere.
- Use each channel's own report; don't estimate missing numbers.
- If a channel can't be read, mark it Missing and say why.

The summary and a link to the updated sheet. What is a daily sales report?
A daily sales report is a short summary of one day’s sales: orders, revenue, average order value, refunds and the best-selling items, usually compared with the same day last week and with a target. Retailers, restaurants, e-commerce stores and sales teams use it to spot problems the next morning instead of at month-end.
The report looks the same every day, and the numbers come from the same places every day. That is exactly what a routine is for.
How this routine builds the daily sales report
Before the team starts, Sai runs these steps:
- Open each channel. Sai reads yesterday’s sales from each source on your Channels tab: point of sale, online store, marketplace or CRM.
- Record the numbers. Orders, revenue, average order value, refunds and top items go into one row per channel.
- Compare. Each channel is compared with the same weekday last week and with its daily target.
- Summarize. Sai writes five lines on what changed, using only the numbers it collected.
- Flag gaps. A channel that couldn’t be read is marked missing, never estimated.
What you get every morning
Over a few weeks the sheet becomes a clean daily history, which the Excel automation skill can turn into weekly and monthly views.
- Yesterday’s sales by channel in your Daily Sales sheet
- Day-over-week and day-over-target comparisons
- Top items and refunds
- A five-line summary you can paste into the team channel
Ways to produce a daily sales report, compared
The right choice depends on how many places you sell.
| Method | Setup | Combines every channel | Uses your own sheet or template | Ongoing effort |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Building it by hand each morning | None | Yes | Yes | High every day |
| Built-in reports in the POS or store | None | No, one channel each | No | Low, but several reports to read |
| A BI dashboard with connectors | Medium to high | Connected channels only | No, the dashboard layout | Low once built; connector costs |
| A Sai routine | Paste the routine, list your channels | Yes | Yes | Low: read the summary |
If a single system already holds all your sales, its own daily report may be enough. The routine helps when sales are split across a register, an online store and a sales team.
When should the daily sales report run?
Early enough that it is ready before the first meeting, and late enough that yesterday’s sales have settled: 6:00 to 7:00 AM works for most businesses. Restaurants and stores open on weekends should run it every day; B2B sales teams can switch Repeat to weekdays.
Set up the routine in Sai
- Copy the routine above and paste it into Sai, or click Start with Sai.
- Set the schedule to Daily at 7:00 AM.
- Leave Ask me before acting off; the routine only reads reports and writes to your sheet.
- Create the Daily Sales sheet with a Channels tab listing each source and its daily target, and give Sai view access to each one.
- Check the first week against the numbers you would have pulled yourself.
For Shopify stores, connect the store through its app connection as described in the Shopify guide; stock levels have their own routine in the Shopify inventory report.
Why use a computer use agent for sales reporting?
Sales live in the register, the online store, the marketplace and the CRM, and each has its own report screen. A computer use agent opens each one the way a manager does, copies the numbers into the sheet you already use and writes the summary, without a connector for every system.
Sai ranks at the top of OSWorld, the open benchmark for computer use, which is why a report like this can run every morning without someone checking it first.
Skills this routine uses
- Excel automation: Clean, merge and update workbooks, refresh a model from new numbers, and build the weekly report in the real Excel app.
- Website data to Excel or Sheets: Pull prices, listings and tables from websites with no export into a clean Google Sheet or Excel file, on a schedule if you want.
- QuickBooks automation: Enter bills, attach receipts and code bank transactions in QuickBooks Online by your rules, with big bills and unknowns left for you.
