Shopify inventory report, with a reorder list every morning

Automate your Shopify inventory report and start each day with a reorder list instead of an export. Every morning Sai reads current stock by product and location through your store’s app connection, compares it with your reorder points and recent sales, and drafts the reorder list in your sheet. It only reads; purchase orders and price changes stay with you.

The routine

# Routine: Daily Shopify inventory report

Schedule: Every day at 6:30 AM
Runs on: Berry's computer
Ask me before acting: no
Stop a run after: 30 minutes

## Each run
1. Through the store's app connection (read-only inventory, product and order scopes), read available quantity by SKU and location.
2. Read units sold per SKU for the last 14 days from orders.
3. In the Inventory sheet, write today's stock on a new dated tab.
4. For each SKU, compare stock with the reorder point in the Products tab and with days of cover at the current sales rate.
5. Update the Reorder tab: SKU, location, on hand, days of cover, suggested quantity from the reorder rules.

## Rules
- Read only. Never edit products, inventory, prices or orders in Shopify, and never drive the Shopify admin directly.
- Don't create purchase orders; the Reorder tab is a suggestion for me.
- If the connection fails, say so instead of reusing yesterday's numbers.

## Send me
Out-of-stock items, items below their reorder point, and the reorder list total.

What is a Shopify inventory report?

A Shopify inventory report shows how many units of each product and variant a store has available, usually by location, and how that compares with what is selling. Store owners use it to reorder on time, avoid stock-outs on best sellers and spot slow movers. Shopify includes inventory pages and reports in its admin; the work is in pulling them every day and turning them into a decision.

This routine does the daily pull and the comparison, so the report arrives as a reorder list rather than a spreadsheet to analyze.

How this routine builds the report

Every morning before the store gets busy, Sai runs these steps:

  1. Read inventory. Sai reads available stock by SKU and location through your store’s app connection, with read-only scopes.
  2. Check sales. It reads units sold per SKU over the last 14 days from your orders.
  3. Log today’s stock. Stock goes on a new dated tab, building a history you can chart.
  4. Compare with reorder points. Each SKU is checked against your reorder point and its days of cover at the current sales rate.
  5. Draft the reorder list. Suggested quantities follow your own reorder rules, ready for you to approve and send.

What you get every morning

Because every day keeps its own tab, you can see when a product started to run low and how fast, which makes the next reorder point better.

  • Today’s stock by SKU and location, on a dated tab
  • Out-of-stock and below-reorder-point items, flagged
  • Days of cover for each product at the current sales rate
  • A suggested reorder list to review and send

For large catalogs with purchase orders, suppliers and forecasting in one place, a dedicated inventory app is worth it. For a store that plans in a spreadsheet, a routine keeps that sheet current every day. For more Shopify work, see Shopify × Sai.

How often should you run an inventory report?

Daily for most stores, before orders start coming in. Fast-moving stores during launches and sales add a midday run. Slow, seasonal catalogs can run it weekly. Change Repeat in the demo above to compare.

Set up the routine in Sai

  1. Copy the routine above and paste it into Sai, or click Start with Sai.
  2. Set the schedule to Every day at 6:30 AM.
  3. Connect Shopify through an app connection with read-only inventory, product and order scopes, as described in the Shopify guide.
  4. Add your Inventory sheet with reorder points and reorder rules per SKU.
  5. Run it once and compare the numbers with Shopify admin before letting it run daily.

Pair it with website data to Sheets to watch competitors’ stock for the same products.

How Sai works with Shopify for this report

Sai reads Shopify through your store’s app connection, the route Shopify designs for tools that work with a store, and never drives the admin with a bot. The computer use part is everything around it: your reorder sheet, supplier portals and the inbox, which have no integration with each other. That is where a person usually spends the morning, and where the routine saves it.

Sai ranks at the top of OSWorld, the open benchmark for computer use, which is what lets a daily routine run before anyone is awake. Nothing changes in your store.

Skills this routine uses

  • Website data to Excel or Sheets: Pull prices, listings and tables from websites with no export into a clean Google Sheet or Excel file, on a schedule if you want.
  • Excel automation: Clean, merge and update workbooks, refresh a model from new numbers, and build the weekly report in the real Excel app.
  • Order entry automation: Turn emailed and PDF purchase orders into sales orders in your ERP or order system, and draft the confirmation for each customer.
